NON STATE ACTORS IN THE INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM

Course Descriptions
The course examines non-state actors in the international system, namely, the changing nature of the international system, and the different types of non-state actors namely; international organisation, inter-government organisation, non-government organisation, terrorist groups, multinational organisation and transnational organisation. All the above will be studied and analysed
These case studies will include World Health Organisation (WHO) international Monetary Fund (IMF) Multinational Corporations, Terrorist Groups and Transnational Criminal Organisations e.t.c.
Course Aim
The main aim of this course is to provide students with deep understanding of who the non-state actors in the international system. The course will analyse their importance in the international system. From this perspective, this course has the following objectives.

To achieve the aims of the course, it has the following objectives;
· Define non-state actors
· Analyse the role they play in the international system
· Discuss the historical development of some of them
· Analyse the importance of non-state actors
· Identify and discuss the contribution of non-state actors in the international system
