HISTORY OF EUROPE II

Course Descriptions
The course examines the ideas concepts and institutions which influenced the evolution of European history and sustained it.
Concepts such as Catholic reformation, enlightenment, enlightened despotism, the agriculture revolution, the scientific revolution, the age of discovery, the Portuguese and Spanish explorers, the emergence of the nation state system and the impact of globalisation on the international system shall be examined and analyzed.
Course Aim
The main aim of the course is to provide the student with a deep understanding of the concepts and institutions that influenced the evolution of Europe up to the French Revolution and beyond. From this perspective, this course has the following objectives.
Course Objectives
To achieve the aims of the course, it has the following objectives;
· Define the major concepts and institutions of European history from 1300-1914
· Analyze the fundamentals
· Analyze the fundamentals of the major concepts
· Discuss the impact of these concepts on evolution European history
· Analyze the importance of these concepts on the culture, people and the nation-states in Europe
· Identify the positive and negative concepts on the evolution of European history from 1300-1914
